Root Canal Treatment ? Extending The Life Of Your Tooth

With the modern techniques used by Dr Neha Gokani at Appledore Dental Clinic Milton Keynes a root canal treatment is no longer a treatment to be feared and should be embraced as it extends the life of your tooth.

• Why does my tooth hurt?  When you have a trauma to your tooth or an infection, it can damage the root canal causing swelling and pain.

• What is a root canal?  This is the soft middle part of your tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are.

• What are the treatment options?  The only cure is to clean the root canal in your offending tooth. If the problem was caused by an infection you will probably need antibiotics first. Once your tooth is numbed, the root canal is removed and then replaced with a sealant to prevent further infection and pain occurring. It's quite a fiddly intricate procedure, on more complex teeth, Dr Neha will sometimes use the microscope for a better view.

• No pain?  The Magic Wand is used to ensure your tooth is fully numb before the start of treatment, so you should feel no pain, perhaps just a little discomfort. Crowns, Bridges And Denture Appliance Statements - Do You Know What’s Going On In Your Mouth?

If you’re having an appliance fitted be it crown, bridge or denture your dentist should give you a statement of manufacture.  The statement proves your dental device has been made to legal standards and is just for you.  You will receive a statement with each new dental appliance however, statements are not supplied for refurbished appliances.

Details your statement will include:-

• Your name      
• A description of the appliance
• The name and address of the supplier (laboratory)
• Confirmation that the appliance was custom made for you
• Confirmation that your appliance meets legal standards
