Root Canal Treatment ? Extending The Life Of Your Tooth

Dr Neha Gokani GDC 87376
Appledore Dental Clinic
Milton Keynes

With the modern techniques used by Dr Neha Gokani at Appledore Dental Clinic Milton Keynes a root canal treatment is no longer a treatment to be feared and should be embraced as it extends the life of your tooth.

• Why does my tooth hurt?  When you have a trauma to your tooth or an infection, it can damage the root canal causing swelling and pain.

• What is a root canal?  This is the soft middle part of your tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are.

• What are the treatment options?  The only cure is to clean the root canal in your offending tooth. If the problem was caused by an infection you will probably need antibiotics first. Once your tooth is numbed, the root canal is removed and then replaced with a sealant to prevent further infection and pain occurring. It's quite a fiddly intricate procedure, on more complex teeth, Dr Neha will sometimes use the microscope for a better view.

• No pain?  The Magic Wand is used to ensure your tooth is fully numb before the start of treatment, so you should feel no pain, perhaps just a little discomfort. However, most of our patients say that it’s actually quite a restful treatment as there’s not much noisy drilling, just a time consuming treatment where you need to keep your mouth open for a period of time. Click here to go to our pain free page

If you need a root canal treatment don't panic
just ask us to explain what needs to happen and why

Our Clinicians recommend that root filled teeth have a crown placed on them as your tooth will not be as strong as it was, and a crown will help to ensure your tooth lasts longer.

New UK Whitening Regulations To Protect YOU !

The laws governing the use of tooth whitening products has changed.   It is now illegal for anyone other than a dentist to prescribe tooth whitening treatment, therapists and other dental clinicians can only provide this treatment under supervision of a dentist and after adequate training.

This new law came in to stop unqualified people offering tooth whitening treatment in the UK - since they did not have the required training in this treatment they did not have the full understanding of issues that arise as this treatment is not suitable for everyone.
